The initial concept of PIMARC began in 1999 with a custom written application. The application was written to address the growing need to be able to access survey records in a fast and efficient manner and did so by converting a large and growing manual index system that was cumbersome to use. The best way to accomplish this task was with a database application with full search features. The natural progression was to incorporate the use of the internet browser as an interface to the database.
