Profile

WORLDiscoveries is the Business Development arm of the University of Western Ontario and London's Research Hospital network. London is home to nearly 2000 researchers, one of the largest concentrations of research talent in Canada. A key objective of the Business Development Office is to add value to R&D projects and research discoveries:

To facilitate these objective, WORLDiscoveries:
-assists faculty in developing collaborative projects with Industry
-provides industry with improved access to London's extensive faculty expertise, know-how, and equipment
-sources funding to provide leverage for research programs and to maximize commercial opportunities
-negotiates industry research contracts and grants
-evaluates, protects and commercializes Western-driven inventions
-provides prototype development funding for proof-of-concept and further development of early stage technologies
-actively licenses technology to existing companies
-assists spin-off company formation as a means of taking research from the laboratory to the marketplace

London's knowledge-based institutions are dedicated to enhancing the community by providing solutions to social problems and stimulating economic growth.
