Ms. Ellenor Castle from the Ontario Ministry of Labour London Office will be going over any ongoing and upcoming MOL initiatives that Manufacturers need to be aware of and in compliance of.

Special attention will be paid to the new Ontario Law (C168) dealing with workplace violence and workplace harassment……Below is a very general statement on this new law from the MOL webpage;

“Everyone should be able to work without fear of violence or harassment, in a safe and healthy workplace. Violence and harassment in the workplace are not tolerated in Ontario. Changes to the OHSA – effective June 15, 2010 – strengthen protections for workers from workplace violence and address workplace harassment. They apply to all provincially regulated workplaces.”

Also included in the presentation will be a brief overview of the Heightened Enforcement Focus (Blitzes) that will are upcoming by the MOL.

There will be time for a question and answer period with the Ministry of Labour at this session. 


Matt Mihailovich of the Law Firm Hicks Morley, Canada’s pre-eminent labour law firm acting exclusively in the areas of Labour, Employment, Education, Pension and Benefits and Health and Safety law on behalf of management. Matt will be providing a legal due diligence update for Manufacturing. Touching on areas such as Human Rights, the Employment Standards Act and any other legal updates manufacturers need to be aware of. Special focus will be put on the implications of the new C168 Violence and Harassment in the Workplace legislation and what you as a manufacturing company need to have in place from a policy and procedure standpoint.
