"We are grateful of the work done by Dancor, Derek Gould of CB Richard Ellis, Toronto, the LEDC and the City of London in getting this project underway. This is especially true of Heather Pilot of the LEDC who was instrumental in putting all the players together who will help transform this into a completed project by 2008."
Today McCormick Canada, led primarily by its flagship brand Club House, has gained the leading market share in Canada, with McCormick and Club House spices and seasoning mixes occupying the spice sections of all grocery stores across Canada. Sales growth over the past several years has significantly outpaced the market as a result of distribution gains, innovative marketing and advertising support as well as superior store level execution. In addition to the Retail operations, the Company supports the restaurant sector through the Food Service division. Capitalizing on the success of the retail products the Food Service division markets a larger sized package to the restaurants through extensive broker relationships across Canada. McCormick is similarly positioned in this segment with the leading market share in Canada.
Product development, supporting the Retail and Food service sectors is directed from London driven by a team of creative marketers and food scientists. New product development is focused on creating value added products that help consumers deliver 'awesome' flavors to their meals.
McCormick takes pride is servicing Industrial customers through two divisions located in Toronto. Food processors, snack food manufacturers and other business that require unique spices, flavorings and blends develop relationships with our Stange and Food Ingredients divisions. McCormick Canada often leverages relationships with global customers while continually working with smaller companies focused on the Canadian marketplace. Significant time is invested in understanding the unique requirements for these customers, and through a partnership develops and test new products and concepts.
Over the balance of 2002 McCormick Canada will be consolidating its Ontario manufacturing operations in London. The recently announced purchase of 600 Clarke Rd will allow the company to gain efficiencies through the consolidation, but more importantly allow for further expansion as the business continues to grow. The London workforce will grow by approximately 60 new positions as a result of this consolidation.
Baltimore based McCormick and Co is proud of the Canadian operation, and the decision to increase the capital investment in London is a testament to its commitment to the Canadian marketplace and in particular to London, our home since 1883.
