Said DJ DeJesus,Treasurer, “We are honoured and extremely pleased to receive the 2004 London Featured Company Award in the 20th anniversary of the company. Looking back on the last 20 years I realize how great the decision was to establish the business in London”.
“London’s geographic location and skilled workforce makes it an ideal city to start a small business,” added Cas Marques, Secretary, “With the recent addition of the larger manufacturing companies it has the potential to become one of Ontario’s largest manufacturing centers.”
About the Company: In 1984, RHO-CAN Machine & Tool Company Limited (RHO-CAN) was founded by brothers Alfred and Casimiro Marques and DJ de Jesus. What started as a one-machine, three-man operation, has since grown into a successful tier-one automotive supplier that employs nearly 100 highly skilled and trained workers.
RHO-CAN is different from many machine shops. Whereas many companies specialize in tools and dies, RHO-CAN provides a full line of products and services. Some of the products/services provided offered by RHO-CAN includes: General Machining & Custom Parts, Tools & Dies, Jigs & Fixtures, Special Purpose Machines, Engineering, Welding & Fabrication; and, Maintenance & Repair.
By offering customers a complete product line, RHO-CAN is able to assure customers that the specific requirements of their projects will be met with the greatest quality, speed, and confidentiality possible. This makes RHO-CAN a very attractive partner as manufacturers have looked to outsourcing.
The three founders of RHO-CAN received formal training in the tool and die profession in the former Rhodesia in Africa. Canada offered immigration opportunities, and government authorities recommended London because of its relative size and location. An initial plant was established in Lambeth, and in 1994, the steadily expanding company relocated to its modern, 40,000-square-foot facility on Industrial Road.
