Explore the Core

Under the Explore the Core program, the LEDC, along with the London Small Business Centre, MainStreet London, and Old East Village BIA, are launching new programs to attract new and existing businesses to London’s core areas.

The 5 Explore the Core Programs are:

  1. Join OEV! Commercial Space Matching Program
  2. London’s Core Area Pop-Up Shops
  3. London’s Core Area Direct Attraction Campaign
  4. London’s Core Area Consumer Experience Centres
  5. Mainstreet London Window Activations

Programs

Qualifying businesses may be eligible to access in-kind and financial support for their continued growth. The details for each program can be found below:

1. Join OEV! Commercial Space Matching Program

Old East Village BIA will host a program that will match two distinct businesses with two unique retail locations in OEV. 

Winners will be awarded both in-kind and financial support from the organizations and program sponsors.

2. London’s Core Area Pop-Up Shops

Calling all entrepreneurs and creatives. Do you want the opportunity to test the market at a much lower risk? MainStreet London and the Old East Village BIA want to help you open a pop-up shop in London’s Core Area. 

These temporary locations can last for a day, a week, one month, or sometimes longer, depending on the business and space availability. 

These spaces are perfect for art shows, craft sales, small businesses launching their products or established businesses testing a new product.

3. London’s Core Area Direct Attraction Campaign

Focussing on London’s Core Areas, this campaign is a general business attraction initiative, leveraging social media, earned media and some limited advertising to attract local and regional businesses to London’s core.

4. London’s Core Area Consumer Experience Centres

Consumer experience centres provide an opportunity for non-traditional use to occupy main floor retail space. 

An example might be a technical company that wants to demonstrate their software/hardware, interface with consumers to create brand awareness, gather feedback and demonstrate features and benefits of their products/services. 

5. Mainstreet London Window Activations

We will work with local artists to decorate windows (e.g. painting on glass windows) and create displays inside that suggest the types of uses that could be attracted to the vacant spaces.
