 <a id="main-content" tabindex="-1"></a>The Biotron, The University of Western Ontarioâ€™s cutting edge experimental climate change research facility, has purchased precision high efficiency thermo electronic incubators designed and developed by a small London company using leading technology. General Scientific Instruments Services Inc. (GSIS) of London, Ontario, has developed an environmentalistâ€™s dream incubator which uses no hazardous gasses. Freon is typically used in conventional refrigeration technologies which is an environmental concern. The Peli-Can Incubator, developed by GSIS, offers outstanding operational efficiencies using up to 90% less electricity to operate. â€œThe Biotron approached GSIS with a concern that existing incubator technologies would consume too much electricity.â€&#157; say Norm Geiger, President of GSIS. â€œOur Peli-Can Incubator will pay for itself in power savings alone.â€&#157; The Biotron will use up-to 50 Peli-Can Incubators to provide controlled environments for researchers from around the world who want to model complex ecosystems.
