London Community Grants Program application now open with increased focus on equity and inclusion

The City of London invites local organizations and not-for-profits to apply for the 2021 Innovation and Capital stream of the London Community Grants Program. Applications are being accepted until March 29, 2021, at 4:30 p.m.

A total of $496,000 is available in 2021 for Innovation and Capital projects. An additional focus this year, the Innovation and Capital funding stream will direct a minimum of 25% of grant funds to anti-racism, anti-oppression and equity and inclusion projects.

“These grants provide local organizations with the funding needed to continue to grow, serve Londoners and enhance our city for all,” says Mayor Ed Holder. “This program was delayed last year due to the pandemic, but we are happy to bring this great opportunity back with an increased focus on diversity and inclusion.”

“Changes to the London Community Grants Program this year reflect an increased focus on diversity and inclusion across London,” says Cheryl Smith, Managing Director, Neighbourhood, Children and Fire Services. “We invite organizations and groups to submit funding applications for initiatives and priorities including anti-Black racism, anti-Indigenous racism and anti-oppression.”

In addition to changes in the funding model, City staff will continue to engage with community stakeholders, working toward removing barriers for racialized and marginalized groups when applying for these grants.

About the London Community Grants Program

The London Community Grants Program provides more than $2 million each year to support organizations in the community. Funding requests must align with the City of London’s Strategic Plan or support Council-directed emerging priorities, such as anti-racism and anti-oppression.

The Community Grants available through the Innovation and Capital funding stream include:

  1. Innovation grants, which are provided to new, emerging organizations and/or initiatives that engage in dynamic community partnerships, innovative improvements to service delivery and system collaboration, and/or generate new ideas.
  2. Capital grants, which are provided for projects involving construction or purchase of physical assets, including, but not limited to, land, building and associated renovation costs.

Organizations that are not registered not-for-profits can still apply by partnering with a host organization.
