Members and supporters of London’s music scene gathered Sunday night to celebrate the best in the city and region.

The 21st annual Forest City London Music Awards gala took place at the London Music Hall on Dundas Street with a show featuring a diverse set of performers that reflects the city’s artistic community, said awards chair and co-founder Mario Circelli.

“It’s the most diverse field of nominees that we’ve ever had and we’re really, really proud of that,” he said.

The city’s music scene “is probably the strongest I’ve seen it in a couple of decades,” Circelli said. “The calibre of musicianship has always been great. London has always been a place of music.

“But we’re really peaking with respect to diversity. Women are leading the charge and the representation by the Latin community is phenomenal.”

The winners in the classical, jazz, world and Latin music categories were honoured last weekend in an awards ceremony at Aeolian Hall.

The Sunday night awards show wraps up what organizers called the biggest London Music Week ever. It included a raft of live performances on Dundas Place, the high school battle of the bands and the induction of the new class into the London Music Hall of Fame, located adjacent to the London Music Hall.
