City set to open outdoor pools and wading pools across London in July

Outdoor pools and wading pools will open across London in early July.

Outdoor pools

The City of London has opened Stronach Pool, with eight additional outdoor pools set to open on Friday, July 1, weather permitting. Londoners can visit london.ca/aquatics to find information related to outdoor pools, including locations and admission prices.

Limited spaces are available for outdoor learn to swim lessons and aquatic leadership lessons, and schedules can be viewed on Play Your Way online. Recreation swim session schedules will be available on Play Your Way online by Monday, June 20.

The City will share information related to additional outdoor aquatic program offerings later this summer. Londoners are encouraged to follow the City’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram for updates related to these programs.

Due to structural issues, Glen Cairn Pool and Thames Pool will not open this year. At both locations, thorough assessments were conducted but unfortunately, the extent of repairs required mean that neither location will be open this season.

We know this is disappointing news for both communities as outdoor pools are popular destinations for individuals and families during the summer season. The City will look into options to offer families and individuals living near Glen Cairn and Thames Pool with alternative aquatic offerings at neighbouring outdoor and indoor pool facilities throughout the summer to accommodate for these closures.

Wading pools

The City of London will open Springbank Park wading pool on Friday, July 1, with the remainder of wading pools set to open on Monday, July 4 and Tuesday, July 5, weather permitting.

Londoners are encouraged to visit london.ca/aquatics to find locations and supervision policy information. The hours of operation for each wading pool will be added to https://london.ca/pools once they become available.

Call for lifeguards

The City of London is hiring qualified lifeguards for the summer aquatics season. As part of a team, lifeguards provide safe, enjoyable aquatic experiences for Londoners at our outdoor pools and wading pools. For more information and to apply, please visit https://careers.london.ca/.

Please note all City-operated indoor pools will be closed on June 29 and 30 to conduct aquatics staff training ahead of outdoor pools and wading pools opening.
