King’s University College announced $1 million in research grants Wednesday that it says will fund projects that align “with their mission as a liberal arts college.”
The affiliate of Western University said it will fund up to $60,000 annually for research projects by full-time faculty members, supported by students. King’s president David Malloy called the grants initiative “a landmark decision” that came as a result of the school’s strategic plan.
“It has been developed in response to and in recognition of our tradition of outstanding and impactful research and the great potential of our scholars,” he said.
Grants will support research projects from both early career and established scholars, the school said.
Research projects funded will be those that reflect King’s values of “serving the public good, improving lives and engaging with our community,” says Gillian Balfour, King’s vice-president and academic dean.
Open to all faiths, King’s is a Roman Catholic college that provides degrees in the liberal arts, social sciences, management and social work.
