National nod for two local firms

BlueStone Properties and Northern Commerce named to 2021 Best Workplaces in Canada list

TWO LONDON FIRMS have landed themselves on the 2021 Best Workplaces in Canada list, an annual competition run by the Great Place to Work Institute.

Ecommerce and digital marketing firm Northern Commerce and the property development company BlueStone Properties, both snagged spots on this year’s list.

“We are so proud — even just to be top 50, it’s amazing,” says Jaclyn Pisarczyk, executive vice-president with BlueStone. “Over the last several years we have been focusing on strengthening our culture, reinforcing and recognizing our team for living and embracing our values, and sticking together during the continual changes and challenges Covid-19 has posed on our business and industry.”

“It is our employees that set us apart from the competition, and for that we are grateful” ―Jaclyn Pisarczyk

“Creating a compassionate, inclusive and rewarding company culture that empowers our employees through strong mentorship and respect has been the foundation of our success,” adds Michael DeLorenzi, president of Northern Commerce. “Following a year of extreme uncertainty, the recognition as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces speaks to the tremendous strength and dedication of the team members at Northern.”

The competition process to land a spot on the list is based on two criteria — confidential employee survey results, comprising two-thirds of the score, with a review of the organization’s culture making up the difference. (“There’s only one way to get on this list,” the firm behind it says. “Your employees have to put you on it.”)

“This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture,” the Institute says. “Together, they provide crucial data relative to five trust-building dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.”

For BlueStone, the recognition was a validation of a long year of hard work. “Our entire team was able to all participate remotely in the Best Workplaces in Canada awards ceremony, and we wouldn’t have It any other way,” says Pisarczyk. “It is our employees that set us apart from the competition, and for that we are grateful. We are proud to represent London on this top 50 list and can’t wait to show London where we’re heading in the future.” National nod for two local firms Best Workplaces Awards Kieran Delamont
