Sam Latella takes over from the retiring Bob Usher on Monday.

“Sam is a longtime Londoner with deep roots in our community. He is looking forward to working with all of our fantastic vendors and getting to know the Covent Garden Market’s customers,” the market’s board said in a statement.

“Sam fondly remembers visiting the market on Saturdays as a young child with his family, and the smell of the rotisserie chicken that they would bring home for dinner. Sam will continue the Covent Garden Market’s tradition as a space for Londoners to meet, greet, and create wonderful memories.”

Latella has 19 years of retail grocery experience, most recently as store manager of Metro Cherryhill.

“I would again like to thank Bob Usher for the 18 years of dedicated leadership he has brought to the market,” said Coun. Steve Hillier, market board chairperson.

“Everyone at the Covent Garden Market is saddened to see Bob leave. As Bob helps to onboard Sam over the coming weeks, I sincerely hope you will take a moment and thank him for everything he has done for us.”

Established in 1845, the market contains more than 50 merchants and services and 18 restaurants. It hosts an outdoor farmers’ market on Thursday and Saturday.
