Celebrating the Stories that Change Us
Nominations now open for the 15th Pillar Community Innovation Awards

LONDON, April 1, 2021 - Pillar Nonprofit Network is excited to announce the launch of our nominations for the 15th Annual Pillar Community Innovation Awards. Since launching in 2006, the Pillar Community Innovation Awards has become the largest community storytelling awards celebration in Canada sharing over 180 stories.

This event celebrates how individuals, organizations and enterprises are investing in positive community impact in our region in the categories of Innovation, Leadership, Impact, Collaboration and Community Choice. At the core of the Pillar Community Innovation Awards is a desire to share stories of positive impact and to build community connections for social good. Last year almost 800 Londoners joined us virtually to honour individuals and organizations doing exceptional work in our communities.

Why take the time to tell stories and celebrate when there is so much work left to do? Storytelling is a powerful tool for transformation. Stories can move us, inspire us, unite us and ultimately have the power to change us at our very core. Stories are our connection to the past and our bridge to the future we wish to create. Help us find the inspiring stories of those working to make our region a more engaged, more vibrant and more inclusive community.

Nominations are now open until May 28, 2021. Any nonprofit, charity, individual, business, social enterprise, education or government sector organization in the London, Elgin, Oxford and Middlesex regions whose work relates to positive community impact, is eligible for nomination.

Nomination guidelines are available at pcia.pillarnonprofit.ca/nominations. Nominations are reviewed by an external group of community volunteers who will select 12 finalists.

The Pillar Community Innovation Awards ceremony will celebrate these 12 finalists at a virtual event on November 18, 2021. Award recipients will receive $2,000 to be directed to the registered charity of their choice and will be presented with a custom-designed award, accompanied by their names engraved on the perpetual plaque in the Hudson’s Bay Passageway at the London Central Library.

“Help us amplify the work of amazing individuals and organizations making positive change. Powerful stories have the ability to transform us and inspire us to take care of each other.”
Saidat Vandenberg, Co-Chair, Pillar Community Innovation Awards

“There has never been a better time to celebrate collaboration, impact, leadership and innovation. Working together has never been more important to create lasting and impactful change.”
Emily Strybosch, Co-Chair, Pillar Community Innovation Awards
