And now, digital is a thriving channel that helps companies to grow.”
Introduced in 2009 worldwide, Bitcoin is an open-source payment network that uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks. The managing of transactions and the issuing of Bitcoins are carried out collectively by the network. Though Bitcoins are still a relatively new phenomenon, the Canadian community of Bitcoin supporters is growing significantly.
Although there is a Bitcoin embassy in Montreal and a few ATMs and exchange services scattered nationwide, virtual currency has taken a while to catch on in non-metropolitan areas. That’s why ATMOS is determined to increase demand in the London region. “As a digital company that embraces new technology, we want to help London build on its foundation as an innovative economy and community,” said ATMOS partner Larry Lau.
ATMOS will continue to accept traditional methods of payment for services rendered, but they hope to encourage local businesses to start trading in Bitcoin.
