When the Christmas market at 100 Kellogg Lane wrapped up last year, Angela Rivard knew they were tapping into something Londoners wanted.

“Just from the sheer support we got from Londoners, we knew this was a really good formula for people to come together and have some smiles after a long winter,” said Rivard, events co-ordinator for 100 Kellogg.

“We just want to replicate that again.”

That’s why the multi-use complex on the site of the former cereal plant in east London is coming back to life with a Spring Market next month.

More than 80 vendors will participate in the market that will include expanded access to the site’s courtyard, allowing people to better explore 100 Kellogg Lane.

Rivard described the market as yet another piece of the puzzle to make the former factory — now home of The Factory recreation facility and Powerhouse Brewery among others as well as the future home of a Hard Rock Café hotel — an attraction for people across Southwestern Ontario.

“We really want to grow this over the next 10 years,” she said. “It’s definitely our goal for 100 Kellogg to become a great entertainment hub.”

But she also said the market comes at a time when small businesses in the community need the support of Londoners.

“In this last year, they’ve needed this more than anything,” Rivard said. “It’s been a tough year for some of these vendors and small businesses and this is a great way for us to bring them together and show our support.”

The Spring Market will run for three weekends starting Thursday, April 8.

Organizers will work with the Middlesex-London Health Unit to ensure safety protocols to avoid the spread of COVID-19, including crowd limits, are in place, Rivard said.

“The safety of guests is a top priority for us,” she said. “We worked early closely with the health unit during the Merry Market and we’ll do that again.”
