Meet the Speakers:
Kirsten Slind is a self made crafty who has been working in the industry since covidOn set she’s known as Mama K because she looks after everyone and her wrap speech always includes “ it was my pleasure keeping you alive so you could all make a movie.
”Her business name is Witchcraft and it was created by the fact that she often had to “ make food happen out of nothing”.
No kitchen? No problem
No food truck? No problem
No budget? No problem
Her skill sets include pivoting and manoeuvring craft around when other departments face their own struggles, and she will also set the record straight with production if things are not working regarding crew members treating her like a make to order restaurant. Craft is NOT a restaurant but a food service based on availability and budget. IFITS is her favourite term. If It’s There Its There, If Its Not it’s Not ( said in Scottish accent).
She will always make sure she provides the best craft selection with a friendly smile and will usually require listening to musicals while cooking breakfast.

Martin Ortega, an actor born in Toronto and grew up in London. Martin first got into in the film industry as a student at UWO taking Film Studies. In a film production course Martin was introducedto his now close friend, Ethan Hickey. Ethan gave Martin the opportunity to volunteer on his debut directorial feature, ‘Burden’, as a production assistant. From there Martin has been able to work on many other sets in various roles such as; Locations Manager, Transport Coordinator, and Production Assistant. All important positions that are backbones to a production's productivity and efficiency; all work very closely with the Craft Department which is the fuel of any and all productions. These experiences have all been extremely valuable in my career as I have stepped away from crew to focus solely on acting. Martin has valuable experience on the funtion of day-to-day set life of a production.
