Please join us at the hirewesternu Ability Accessible Employment Forum Thursday March 2 from 5:30 to 7:45 PM.

This evening of education and networking will increase your awareness of issues and success strategies in employment from an accessible lens, as well as give students with barriers to employment a chance to network with employers and community support partners who support accessible employment. Students with future careers in rehabilitation, human resources or career education would also benefit in attending to learn how they can support accessible employment as future professionals.

*Registration is limited due to space restrictions, so register early!*

Part One: Opening remarks and guest speaker

  • Join Careers & Experience in welcoming Dr. Jeffrey Preston, Department Chair of Disability Studies at King's University College as our guest speaker for the evening.

Part Two: Panel for Accessible Employment Q&A

  • Hybrid
  • A panel of experts from community support partners will answer questions about many areas of accessible employment. Panel will be made up of members with significant experience in the area of accessible work and some individuals with lived experience. Please submit any questions you have to gillian.manley@uwo.ca.

Part Three: Networking Nibbles

  • In-person
  • Enjoy refreshments and networking conversations with employers around what their organization employment needs are, the skills the organizations are looking for and what accessibility supports the organization offers. Learn about some of the great employment supports available with community partners. A list of participating employers and community support organizations will be provided to registered participants closer to the event.

Target Audience

People who identify as having a disability or neurodiverse who may face barriers to employment. Students with an interest in the topic of accessibility in employment such as future rehabilitation professionals, future HR professionals or career education.

Masks are optional, pending any changes to Western policies. This is considered a non-instructional event.
