Improving, Growing & Powering our Communities

Mark your calendars for Thursday, November 13 and Friday, November 14 as we bring together local government leaders and future leaders, along with public administration academics, to explore critical issues and foster collaboration and networking across the sector.

This year's conference will kick-off with a cocktail reception and a spotlight on Andy Sancton's esteemed book list. On Friday, the City of London Mayor, Josh Morgan, BA'02, MA'04, will open the morning, followed by a full day of keynotes, panels, professional development and networking, all centered around the theme of Less Red Tape, More Duct Tape: Improving, Growing & Powering our Communities.

The program is designed to broaden local government professionals' perspective on topical issues through a blend of academic and practioner lenses. This year will delve into a variety of topics including:

  • The changing role of Municipalities in land-use planning and housing starts - from regulators to facilitators and participants
  • Ontario's changing energy landscape - are utilities and renewable energy projects still good for investments for municipalities?
  • Homelessness and Addictions - examining multi-level governance and inter-jurisdictional conflict, the meaning of emerging case law and creative housing solutions
