Ontario Digital Media Export Business Mission to India Joy 2024

Dates

The Government of Ontario is organizing a Digital Media Export Business Mission to India Joy.

Anticipated to be worth more than C$133 billion by 2030, India’s media and entertainment industry is bolstered by the public's huge appetite for film and video products, an international reputation for world-class movies, and government ambitions to turn India into a content creation hub. India’s online gaming sector will reach C$3.8 billion, and the animation and visual effects (VFX) segments are forecast to be C$4 billion in value, by 2025. More than 1,600 films were released in 2022. In 2021, the Indian government announced it would create a National Centre of Excellence for AVGC, or animation, visual effects, gaming and comics. Robust activity in Indian digital media will provide leading Ontario-based technology companies exciting opportunities for global sales and partnerships.

The mission will target Ontario game and app developers, e-sports companies, digital media firms, and specialized technology companies involved in software and hardware, including augmented and virtual reality, animation, and visual effects (VFX). Mission delegates will exhibit at the seventh edition of India Joy, the largest gathering of gaming, animation, VFX, e-sports and entertainment events in India. The festival offers nine events for investors, digital media companies, studios, and hardware manufacturers. More than 150 exhibitors and 60 companies from 50+ countries participated in the 2022 edition, including about 20,000 visitors.

The mission package will include:

  • 1:1 export advice and consultation
  • Pre-mission briefing offering sector/market updates and logistical information related to the mission
  • Exhibiting space in the Ontario booth at India Joy
  • Customized B2B program and site visits to connect Ontario companies with potential customers and partners
  • Travel to Hyderabad and potentially Mumbai
  • Marketing and promotional support through trade show and Ontario delegates’ directories
  • Networking opportunities and potential conference speaking slots

The mission registration fee is to be confirmed. In addition, participating Ontario companies must cover the cost of their flights, accommodation, some local transportation and meals. Delegates may wish to explore the federal government's CanExport funding program to support their international business activities.

Mission application date: September 9, 2024
