Calling all festival and event organizers!

Level up your grant writing skills and gain confidence in your tracking and reporting at this one-day workshop. In collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, join us for a dynamic session packed with insights and strategies to better secure funding for your projects. The session will be facilitated by Paul Samson, Touism Industry Advisor for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. Read Paul's bio below.

Event Details:

  • Wednesday, May 15, 2024
  • 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Goodwill Industries Building, Town Hall Room (255 Horton St E, London, ON N6B 1L1)
  • Refreshments and lunch will be be provided to keep you fueled throughout the day
  • Free for all to attend but RSVP required to reserve your spot
  • There is complimentary parking on site, first come first served. Otherwise, there is parking within a block of the event space.

Topics We'll Cover:

  • Capacity building and animinating a destination through festivals and events
  • Important elements in building a solid application for funding including organizational and project information, marketing plan, tracking and performance metrics and budget requirements
  • Final reports and supporting information: setting the stage for future years

Meet Our Workshop Facilitator:
Paul Samson brings over 20 years of experience in various roles within the government, including his current position as Tourism Industry Advisor for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. In addition to this role, Paul has assisted the Investment Development Office of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in implementing the Premier-ranked Tourist Destinations Framework across the Province. He also delivers workshops on identifying and developing demand generators, destination development and capacity building for festivals and events.

Paul's extensive background includes roles as a manufacturing and tourism consultant in Windsor for both the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the Ministry of Tourism. He has also served as the Manager of Client Services for the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and held positions within the Federal Government with the Canadian International Development Agency, specializing in fostering joint ventures between Canadian companies and those in India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
