Increased demand for labour dispute security and contingency planning has warranted a major expansion by AFI International Group Inc.
AFI - Canada's leading supplier of labour dispute services - has posted growth of nearly 1500 per cent in the past five years as more corporations and governments seek to stay operational when their workforces go on strike.
After recently moving to a high tech, custom-built headquarters in Milton, Ontario, AFI is now opening a division in downtown London, Ontario. "More companies and governments are recognizing a need to keep their operations running while the union exercises its right to strike," observes Darrell Parsons, president of AFI. "We enable them to do that safely and smoothly."
"We are very pleased that AFI International Group Inc., recognized for its high growth and reputation for providing quality, customer service has chosen London for its expansion," says John Kime, President and CEO of the London Economic Development Corporation. "The addition of 30 new employees to one of London's downtown office towers will continue to support the economic revitalization of our core."
The new South West division will be headed by Geoff J. Warren, a senior management professional who brings 15 years of experience building successful business strategies for leading telecommunications companies. Warren's effective negotiation and mediation skills, along with experience working with corporate clients, government agencies, police, staff and suppliers, will be of particular benefit to AFI's South Western Ontario region clients.
Established in 1986, AFI's business has flourished since the repeal of legislation prohibiting replacement workers in Ontario. During a dispute, AFI handles everything from security on the picket line, to recruiting replacement workers for continued operations and ensuring the safe transport of personnel and product. It is the only company in Canada with this exclusive focus.
AFI's success achieved a ranking of 44th on Profit magazine's current list of 100 fastest growing companies.
