Columbia Sportswear makes London home

Begun as a hat company in 1938 in Portland, Oregon, Columbia Sportswear, the clothing and outdoor gear company recognized for its durability and long-standing popularity, made London its home at Highbury Avenue and Highway 401 in 2012, purchasing a pair of buildings on 750,000 square feet of space. Columbia made the purchase with the plan to consolidate operations in facilities in Strathroy into one modern, industry building.

The new London location is designated as the Canadian headquarters and distribution centre for the brand, and was chosen based on its proximity to the city that is known for its quality of life, attractive talent pool, and low-cost of living, which was determined to be enticing for employees.  The move and consolidation brought 190 jobs to London.
