CSTAR and Nucro - Technics To Jointly Provide Pre-Clinical Contract Research Services

CSTAR and Nucro-Technics, both members of the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation Business Development Team, have agreed to jointly provide a range of pre-clinical research services to companies in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device industries. From the early stage, non-GLP, proof-of-concept and efficacy studies, to the GLP compliant pre-clinical studies that enable companies to take their therapeutics to the clinic, CSTAR and Nucro-Technics will offer the full range of pre-clinical research services necessary to commercialize new drugs and medical devices.
Demand for such services is growing globally as a greater number of companies realize the cost-savings and strategic advantages that outsourcing of their research and development activities affords.

"The CSTAR - Nucro-Technics Team represents an innovative partnership through which the global biotech and medical device sectors have access to over 125,000 sq. ft. of world class, non-GLP and GLP laboratory facilities and expert personnel", says John Parker, Director. "The CSTAR-Nucro-Technics Team solidly positions London and Ontario as leaders in enabling this critical first step in the development, validation and training for emergent medical technologies. In addition, the non-GLP proof-of-concept projects brought to London from around the world will provide substantial opportunities for establishing a recurring customer base to the benefit of CSTAR and its London-based partners including Lawson Health Research Institute and The University of Western Ontario."

"Teaming up with CSTAR opens up new market segments for Nucro-Technics. This partnership enables us to offer a complete pre-clinical research package, from proof-of-concept studies to the GLP IND/CTA enabling pre-clinical research that Nucro-Technics has provided its clients for over 30 years," says Dr. George N. Nikopoulos, the Business Development Scientist at Nucro-Technics. "In addition, CSTAR's capacity to validate new medical device technologies and develop high quality training programs will prove extremely attractive to medical device companies as they look to develop their devices through to commercialization. We regard the Nucro-Technics - CSTAR relationship as a unique and powerful opportunity to facilitate the innovation and commercialization of therapeutics and medical devices right here in the Greater Toronto Area, while serving the needs of our clients in Ontario, in Canada, and beyond."

The CSTAR - Nucro-Technics Team has already begun the process of customer intake and its first non-GLP proof-of-concept project is now underway.

CSTAR accelerates the transfer of emergent medical device technologies to safe patient care through research, validation and simulation training. CSTAR is a program of London Health Science Centre and is affiliated with The University of Western Ontario and Lawson Health Research Institute. Occupying three floors within the Lindros Legacy Research Building, CSTAR has developed an international reputation for providing high quality programs and services.

NUCRO-TECHNICS is a Toronto based Pharmaceutical Contract Support Organization.
