(London, Ont.) On Friday and Saturday, November 22 -23, Downtown London will host the second annual Downtown Discover Different Days. The two-day event will showcase the unique and different experiences that Downtown London has to offer. The event will offer free parking, special two-day promotions at for downtown restaurants, retailers and services, and the chance to win a $1,000 Downtown London Shopping Spree.
According to Janette MacDonald, Executive Director of Downtown London the event is a part of the on-going evolution of downtown. With the success of last year event we want to continue to highlight the independent retailers, restaurants and services and help bring Londoners together as a community to experience the difference downtown has to offer.
Last year, the first ever Downtown Discover Different Day was a huge success, with 39 retailers participating, around 1,600 visitors, and over 1000 ballot entries for the $1,000 shopping spree. Retailers were so thrilled with the results that this year's event will extend over two days and already has over 40 retailers, restaurants and service providers participating.
Last year, comic book shop Heroes had an outstanding day with sales up over 100% over a regular Saturday. Frilly Lizard is just one of the other retailers excited to participate again this year. “We are thrilled to be apart of this, says Sue Glass, owner of Frilly Lizard. Last year it was packed the whole day. It seemed to be the right idea.
This event gives Londoners a chance to experience downtown in new ways and maybe even discover their new favourite place to shop or dine in the city. Chris McInnis, owner of Uber Cool says There were lots of new faces and I think some people were really pleased and surprised to find a store like Uber Cool in London. It was phenomenal.
More than 40 downtown retailers, restaurants and service providers have jumped on board with discounts, deals, and special promotions. Impark will offer free parking at select surface lots throughout the downtown core on Saturday from 8 a.m. 4 p.m. Shoppers can also enter to win a grand prize draw of $1,000 downtown dollars at each participating retailer.
