Giant leaps for Tiny Titan

Jeff Evans is a happy game developer. Evans has been building on his previous success and experience to fuel his brand new venture, Tiny Titan Studios, and is already seeing great results with the popularity of his new mobile game ‘Happy Cube Death Arena’.
Evans, an industry veteran with more than 12 years of professional expertise founded Tiny Titan Studios in January 2014.
“Our development vision is to create smaller scale accessible games inspired by retro classics that we grew up on in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s,” he says.
The studio’s first game ‘Starship Turret Operator Guy’ stays true to the company’s mantra. The game is an endless arcade shooter game in which the  user plays as a starship employee who has been promoted to turret operator. Players compete with others from around the world for the ultimatehigh score as they defend their ship against enemy threats while upgrading  their turret and unlock expansions. Packed with upgrades, secrets, achievements and more the game promises to keep players entertained until there are no more space pirates in sight!
“We started Starship development in March 2014 as a tech demo for the Unity 3D engine, we quickly realized we had something. We analyzed the current shmup (shoot 'em up) offerings and wanted to distinguish ourselves by making the first stationary shmup game on mobile,” Evans said. “With this game there is no more fighting with controls, simply tap to shoot. The difficulty is in your skill mastery of the game. We spent the next few months adding (and removing a few) features and balancing until it felt complete.”
The game offers several key features including endless shooting arcade action, more than 75 Turret upgrades and four unique expansion Turrets, special items and sophisticated high definition graphics.
While not new to working on smaller teams, this is Evans’ first time as  CEO and primary developer. He says he has been enjoying the journey so far, which has seen him become involved in every aspect of the business and game development.
“It’s a lot of work, but it’s very rewarding to witness everything coming together at the end,” he says.
The game development industry in London is one of the pillars of the region’s strong digital creative sector that employs more than 8,000 people. Evans said he has received support and encouragement from within the industry as well as from partners including the London Economic Development Corporation. He said he is looking forward to Tiny Titan Studios growing and expanding in the near future. Already, the studio’s second title ‘Happy Cube Death Arena’ has been featured as one of Apple’s best new games in more than 120 countries and has been downloaded more than 600,000 times in just three weeks.
