Green Jobs for Graduates

Are you an organization looking to attract and retain highly skilled talent? Learn more about the STIP Green Jobs wage subsidy program that will help you find new graduates seeking work experience in: Mining and Minerals, Energy, Forestry or Earth Sciences.

Access funding of up to 80% of each intern’s salary, to a maximum of $10,000 for a full-time, 4-month internship that supports a motivated and qualified new graduate!

Which organizations are eligible?
· Industry, post-secondary institutions, non-profit organisations and provincial, territorial or municipal government departments across Canada.
· Considered a “Green” Organization:
o The nature of your business aligns with green economic sectors or industries; or
o The nature of your business supports innovation and the use of green technologies and processes in the natural resources sectors; or
o The youth internship is expected to produce an environmental benefit.

Purpose of the program?
· To provide new graduates the opportunity to gain work experience in the Natural Resources Sectors.
· To provide organizations with the opportunity to employ highly qualified people and to support work that is environmentally beneficial. When does the internship take place?
· The internships begin as soon as possible and must be completed by March 31, 2017. How can my organization participate?
· Contact the Green Jobs Coordinator.
· Organizations may make direct matches with eligible graduates they already know or engage with post-secondary graduates who apply through the program.

INFORMATION FOR NEW GRADUATES
Are you a new graduate looking to gain work experience in: Mining and Minerals, Energy, Forestry or Earth Sciences?

Do not look any further! Green Jobs for Graduates offers a full-time, 4-month, paid internship with an organization operating in the natural resources sector.

Who may apply?
· Graduates of a post-secondary institution between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the internship;
· Canadian Citizens, permanent residents of Canada, or granted refugee status in Canada (no work permits or student visas);
· Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations;
· A first-time participant in the Youth Employment Strategy (YES) program;
· Not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits. What types of internship positions will be available?
· Internships will vary in relation to the needs of the employer hosts. All efforts will be made to marry your technical expertise with the skills and experience required to successfully carry out the internship.
· Employer host organizations may range from private sector firms, and post-secondary institutions to non-profit and provincial, territorial or municipal government departments across Canada.

When does the internship take place?
· The internship begins in the first week in December 2016 and must be completed by March 31, 2017.

How do I apply?
· Graduates must apply to the Green Jobs Coordinator to ensure eligibility for the program.
· Graduates may make direct matches with eligible employer host organizations from their own contacts or use program assets to identify potential internship opportunities. (Please note: Students who apply are not guaranteed an internship.)
