London: ON – Zavitz Insurance Inc. and Jindal Financial Group have broken ground at 439 Dundas. Their recent purchase of the old AVCO building (between Colborne and Maitland Street) was influenced by their desire to invest in London’s core. The building, located on London’s nostalgic ‘main street’ and in one of the city’s founding neighborhoods, will serve as Zavitz Insurance and Jindal Financial Group’s corporate office.
Recently celebrating their 25th anniversary, Zavitz Insurance wanted to invest in the community that had helped build its business. “We looked at several locations throughout the city but decided that downtown was best,” explains Terry Zavitz, President of Zavitz Insurance. Proximity to clients and service providers, the eclectic streetscapes, and opportunity to shape the surrounding community were noted as reasons to buy downtown. “Investing downtown means that we can build on the success our city’s core has seen and contribute to its growth and revitalization.”
Several renovations and upgrades are currently underway at the site. A new facade, a seminar room accessible by community and not-for-profits groups, are being executed by local contractors using eco-conscious practices. “Responsible execution is a priority for us,” states Vic Jindal, President of Jindal Financial Group, “it is how we interact with our clients and the community. This building allows us to demonstrate that this commitment is now literally concrete.”
Both Zavitz Insurance and Jindal Financial are active in the community donating both time and sponsorship to several organizations including the Food Bank, Salvation Army, and St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation. Terry Zavitz was awarded the Women of Excellence Award for Business and Trades in 2003 and Jindal has been cited as a Community Champion for several initiatives.
“We are committed to our community and to establishing and building relationships with our clients and community partners,” says Zavitz. “Our building at 439 Dundas provides us with an opportunity to engage both our clients and the community and celebrate the exciting growth that is happing in our companies and in our downtown.” An open house will be held in the early fall.
