LONDON, June 18, 2024 – The London 2024 Ontario Summer Games host organizing committee is excited to announce JUNO award winning artist Rêve will headline the Opening Ceremony of the London 2024 Ontario Summer Games presented by London Hydro. This free show is open to the public and will take place on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Western Alumni Stadium, kicking off the start of the Ontario Summer Games which run from August 1-4. Over 3,500 participants will take part in the Games, which will see youth athletes from across the province competing in 18 different sports across the city.
Since making her label debut in 2021, Rêve has amassed over 110 million combined global streams across a number of original singles, including a #1 US Dance radio hit with "Whitney" along with her Canadian chart-topping track "CTRL + ALT + DEL” which garnered a SOCAN Dance Music Award in 2022 and a Dance Recording of the Year at the 2023 JUNOS.
“We’re so excited to have Rêve join us for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2024 Ontario Summer Games presented by London Hydro,” said Dave De Kelver, General Manager of the London 2024 Ontario Summer Games. “These athletes have an intense weekend of competition ahead of them and it's our hope that this event can provide an opportunity to take a break and reflect on the accomplishment of qualifying for the Games. We want to create a fun and memorable experience and have no doubt Rêve will help us do that!”
Opening the show will be local Indigenous artist Drives the Common Man, followed by an Athletes Parade, Indigenous performance, Official Remarks, Athlete Oath, athlete appearance and torch relay to light the official Games cauldron.
Doors open at Western Alumni Stadium at 5:00pm, with the Ceremony beginning at 6:00pm until approx. 8:30pm.
