(London, On.) On November 1st, a local startup launched the first shop local rewards platform. The platform is an e-commerce store exclusive to 100% Canadian owned local businesses and rewards users for supporting local by giving 2% cash back on every purchase, along with a couple other ways to earn.
The platform, called Locorum has brought on over 40 local companies in the last couple months and added over 2500 products to their digital shelves.
“Locorum exists to support local business. We can’t believe there isn’t a one-stop shop for local business to help consumers to find local products with the same ease as big box chains – we want to fill that gap”, says Matt Santagapita, Locorum Founder.
In addition to offering 2% cash back on every purchase, Locorum also offers the community $5 for every friend they invite to the platform. The rewards program has also partnered with local professionals who are dedicating a part of their commission to support local business; allowing users to earn up to $1500 for using a Locorum partner in the local community for various services.
In just the last two months the program has generated over $10,000 in rewards for users to spend on local businesses in London.
It’s no secret that local business struggles to compete with big international brands, especially when it comes to shipping and pricing. Locorum is helping local companies compete by offering flat rate shipping and fast local delivery. So, customers can order from all their favorite local shops for one shipping rate and get the products in just a couple days via local courier.

Locorum started in 2016 as Santa Knows Best, a blog about London and everything the city has to offer. The purpose since inception was to support small business. That started by doing local business profiles and providing free marketing videos, content and a place for people to learn about their community.
As the idea gained steam reaching over 150,000 London locals with posts in the community the company rebranded to Locorum in 2019, to really drive home their support local purpose.
Locorum is now taking their support of small business to the next level. Alongside the original blog which continues to promote local businesses and events; they have launched an online rewards platform exclusive to local small businesses. Their mission is to help provide the tools small businesses need to compete online and incentivize users to shop local first.
“Local businesses are what make every city unique and these small businesses employ 70% of Canadians. It’s becoming more challenging to compete with the behemoths online; we’re hoping to provide some tools to our fellow entrepreneurs to help them to thrive” – Matt Santagapita, Locorum Founder
