Local fashion brand is first in region to receive Starter Company funding

London ON, September 3: London’s newest fashion startup, Ezzy Lynn, has been selected as the first recipient in the region for the $5,000 Starter Company grant. Ezzy Lynn launched in May 2014 by three young women who recently graduated from Western University and now reside in London.
Founders, Sonja Fernandes, Samantha Laliberte and Bianca Lopes, handcraft the brand’s product line of trendsetting accessories and sell the collection online at ezzylynn.com and in-store through retail partnerships. Moksha Yoga London is now carrying Ezzy Lynn accessories at both the downtown and West London locations.

Fernandes, Laliberte and Lopes built the brand as a way to bridge their many passions: social entrepreneurship, fashion and wildlife conservation. For every 25 units sold, Ezzy Lynn symbolically adopts an endangered animal through the World Wildlife Fund.  After wrapping up Ezzy Lynn’s first quarter, the team has adopted 15 animals including the Amur Leopard, Gorilla and Great White Shark.

“We are proud to support this team and look forward to watching their vision for the brand unfold“, says Steve Pellarin, Executive Director of the London Small Business Centre.  “Being the first company selected for this funding in our region certainly helps us to keep London at the forefront of entrepreneurship, congratulations to the Ezzy Lynn team.”

The Starter Company Program is a key component of the Ontario government’s Youth Jobs Strategy, aiming to help young adults (under 29) find jobs and start their own businesses.
