Local Transportation Company, Lang Bus Lines, Expands

Everyone loves a success story… And the success of Langs Bus Lines Limited is no exception.

Since Doug Langs bought his first four buses in 1968, Langs Bus Lines Limited has been proudly family owned and operated. Not quite as big as some of the major bus line corporations, Langs is happy to be where they are right now. They are committed to staying true to their family values and culture. With a large increase in routes for September, Langs now boasts over 400 buses and will soon be a household name for many more London and surrounding area residents.

Doug’s son Kevin Langs, Vice-President with the company, is proud to say that this accomplishment has been no small feat. “We are thrilled to have been awarded these new routes and look forward to serving the families in these communities.”

Langs focuses on quality, not quantity. Though they have grown significantly over the past year, they are still determined to hire only the best drivers. In fact, their new recruitment campaign is promoting the occupation as more of a community service than a job. The website, CommunityDriven.ca, as well as all supporting materials, promote one key tagline:
“Are You Community Driven?”

Kevin speaks directly to this point: “We are looking for candidates who will view this as more than a job. We are interested in healthy, mature adults looking to get involved with their community and help provide an essential service to the children in the community that need them”. Langs has hired approximately three quarters of the extra bus and van drivers needed for next September. No prior driving employment experience (other than a valid license for five years) is needed, because Langs prides itself on being a certified licensing and training facility that trains all of its drivers in-house.

In Ontario, over 800,000 students rely on school buses every day to get to and from school safely.

If you are community driven and interested in becoming a bus driver, you can apply online at CommunityDriven.ca or talk to current Langs drivers on Facebook.com/LangsCommunityDriven

Langs Bus Lines Limited has offices in Strathroy, London, Forest, Sarnia, Nairn, Norwich, Woodstock and Watford. Their growth has brought them to the doorsteps of families in all of these areas, with new routes in Aylmer, St. Thomas, Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Chatham.

Langs bus drivers are actively engaged in helping hire more like-minded individuals for the job. They are not shy to promote it either; “I love my job” says Allan, a bus driver at Langs for 11 years. “Drivers have to ensure that all these kids get to school safe, and home safe, and it is up to you to make sure that happens. You have to treat the kids as if they were your own, that’s why mothers make excellent drivers.”

You can talk more with drivers like Allan in person, at one of the many information stations they have set up around town, between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday. Just look for the big yellow Langs school bus parked in parking lots near places like Wellington Road and the 401, and the friendly bus drivers standing next to it.
