CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada Presents Play On! launched their new website this spring, www.playon.ca
The new Play On! website provides the national four-on-four street hockey tournament with an upgraded online solution to serve the needs of all Canadians wanting to become involved in the event. With over 80,000 participants and spectators involved in the summer 2008 program, Play On! has grown and will operate in twelve Canadian cities this summer including Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and London.
London web development company, Echidna Solutions Corp., built and designed the new website for the national event. “London is continuously growing to become a technology hot bed. Having Play On! find their web-based solution right here in London Ontario is just another step in the right direction for showcasing London as an important technology sector,” explained Andrew McClenaghan, President of Echidna.
With the rapid expansion of the street hockey tournament across Canada, Echidna decided it was time to increase the functionality of the Play On! website. The new website includes an upgraded registration system, team login section and a completely new graphic design.

CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada Presents Play On! features recreational and competitive street hockey tournament divisions for genders, all skill levels and all ages. Since the program's inception in 2003, more than 180,000 Canadians have ‘taken back the streets’ from coast to coast through participation in one of the twenty-two Play On! events held to date. The events have collectively included participation from many current NHL, AHL, CHL, and CIS players. These highly organized street hockey events have a festival atmosphere and celebrate the game of hockey in a form that expresses the imagination and innocence of youth, helping kids feel like NHL professionals and helping adults feel like kids again.
