Maximizing your Job Fair Experience

To avoid walking away from a job fair feeling like you didn’t find the opportunity you were looking for, strong preparation, developing a clear focus, and recognition that employers are there to meet you are all contributors that can calm your nerves and lead to a positive experience.

Jobseekers often have many questions about job fairs – How do I prepare? How can I stand out and make a good first impression? What should I do after the job fair?

Leading up to the London & Area Works job fair on Tuesday, April 16 from 2:00pm – 7:00pm at the Western Fair Metroland Media Agriplex, the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board, and WIL Employment Connections teamed up to create a webinar that addresses many of the above frequently asked questions and more.

In this webinar, you’ll discover:

  • What a job fair is and what to expect
  • Why employers attend and how to overcome fears
  • How to prepare for a job fair
  • General do’s and don’ts at a job fair
  • How you can stand out
  • What you should do after the job fair
  • Extra tips for success

About London & Area WorksWith the aim to better connect jobseekers with hiring employers and employment resources, London & Area Works launched in 2015 as a website portal and a 16-week video series that features hiring employers in the London region.

The partners currently involved in this initiative – CTV London, LEDC, City of London, the Local Employment Planning Council, and Employment Sector Council – host job fairs twice annually, in the spring and fall months. These job fairs attract over 1,200 jobseekers and more than 50 employers with more than 2,000 open positions each time.

Mark your calendars for the fall job fair on September 24, 2019 from 2-7pm at the Metroland Media Agriplex.
