MP’s Holder and Truppe Welcome Manufacturing Export Win for London

The Honourable Ed Holder, Member of Parliament for London West and Minister of State (Science and Technology) along with Susan Truppe, Member of Parliament for London North Centre and Parliamentary Secretary for Status of Women, today congratulated 3M Canada on the company’s $3-million order to supply 3M’s M61 respiratory mask canisters to the United States Department of Defense.

3M Canada will manufacture the canisters at its Canadian facilities, including their London plant. This order was awarded under an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract issued in December 2011, with a potential value of more than $100 million over seven years.

The sale was facilitated by the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), the Government of Canada’s international government-to-government contracting organization. The contract was awarded under the Defence Production Sharing Agreement between Canada and the U.S.
Quick Facts
•    In 2013-14, CCC contracted over $611 million in Canadian goods and services through the Defence Production Sharing Agreement.
•    Over the past 55 years, Canada’s contracts through the agreement have exceeded $30 billion.
•    CCC is a Crown corporation that reports to Parliament through the Minister of International Trade.
