Mural puts VIA in Motion

LONDON, Ontario (July 23, 2012):  Eight institutional and corporate partners have installed a new mural at London’s VIA Rail Station.

Via Rail Mural
(Jamie Q and James Kirkpatrick), Moving Everything Everywhere All The Time 2012 by Dusty Peas (Jamie Q and James Kirkpatrick), was commissioned by the LEDC and community partners to welcome business and leisure travellers to our city.

Commissioning Dusty Peas (Jamie Q and James Kirkpatrick), Moving Everything Everywhere All The Time 2012is a mural that demonstrates London’s creative energy and invites VIA passengers to connect with London with their smart phones by a QR code and mobile landing page.

“Harrison Pensa, with the support The London Economic Development Corporation wanted to bring together partners with a vested interest in attracting business and talent to London, to create a work that would engage visitors and Londoners alike” explains Jodi Simpson, Director, Marketing and Community Relations of Harrison Pensa.

The piece commissioned for the VIA Rail station shows the reach of London’s community.  In the summer of 2009, Dusty Peas embarked on a creative book project that brought them through five Canadian towns and cities: Halifax, Sackville, Montreal, Toronto, and London. They called this project A Journey Through Time & Shapes. The journey started in London, as the team began creating images for their book. The artwork Moving Everything Everywhere All The Time 2012, commissioned for  the VIA station, is based on one of these images and captures the spirit of travelling, sharing ideas and making connections.

“London has a strong local community that is connected globally. Everyday our business and community leaders create innovations that impact the global market.  This piece helps us tell that story while showcase London’s creative talent,” states Kadie Ward, Director, Marketing and Communication, The London Economic Development Corporation.

Partners in the project include Harrison Pensa, Downtown London, Museum London, Tourism London, The London Convention Centre, The London Economic Development Corporation, rTraction and VIA Rail.  More information can be found at www.everywherelondon.com .
