Nokee Kwe is now accepting nominations for its 2026 Indigenous Business Recognition Award, which celebrates Indigenous-owned and Indigenous-led businesses making a meaningful impact across London and the surrounding region.
The award recognizes businesses that strengthen the economic, social, and cultural well-being of Indigenous communities while creating opportunities for Indigenous job seekers. Eligible businesses must be at least 50 per cent Indigenous-owned, have been operating for a minimum of three years, and be located in London, St. Thomas, Oneida Nation of the Thames, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Munsee-Delaware Nation (Muncey), or surrounding areas.
Three businesses will be honoured during an awards ceremony on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Nokee Kwe's new London location. Winners will receive cash prizes of $1,000 (winner), $500 (first runner-up), and $250 (second runner-up), along with plaques recognizing their achievements. The event will include drummers, refreshments, speeches, and media coverage.
The selection committee will evaluate nominees based on business performance, innovation, leadership, measurable results, and community impact, including their support for Indigenous economic development and the integration of Indigenous cultural values into their operations.
Nominations must be submitted by 12 p.m. (noon) on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, by emailing the completed nomination form to [email protected].
