Ontario Startup Seeks to Change Software Industry

LONDON, ON, August 2, 2016 /CNW/ - A tech startup based in southern Ontario, wants to permanently change the way the software industry works, much in the way Uber upended the taxi business. "Companies in our industry have operated for too long like law firms, shrouded in mystery and complicated contracts", says Tom Germain, CEO of Coder Scoop Inc., "We want to make it easy and totally transparent to use our services".

The company trumpets a unique "NO contract and NO retainer" offer, making projects less costly and off to a quicker start. Not stopping there, customers can choose their project's hourly rate and budget limit directly on their web site (https://coderscoop.com). The company can do the work for a fraction of the cost of traditional firms, as it has virtually no overhead and uses local freelancers, who either work from home or low-cost co-working spaces.

Their almost 40 programmers and designers are vetted and meet regularly in London and Kitchener, and average 10 years of experience, some more than 20. Together they form 50 supervised skills teams, covering everything from controller programming to mobile apps to web development. "No other firm has a staff with that much experience or breadth of skills", Germain says, "Our competitors prefer to hire recent graduates to keep salaries low, whereas we pass most of what we earn to our freelancers".

Coder Scoop also promises its clients "fanatical attention", as surveys show that a top complaint about the industry is the "lack of responsiveness". "We are totally different from the rest", assures Germain.

The company can already service accounts anywhere, but has plans to create local chapters in Toronto and other Canadian and American cities.
