Canada has significant opportunity to add value to its crops, through diverse processing methods aimed at seizing as much of a crop’s potential as possible. To help advance this opportunity, Protein Industries Canada is issuing a $5 million call for Fermentation projects, under its Technology Leadership program
The Fermentation call supports companies who are using fermentation to develop co-products derived from Canadian broad-acre crops, with the end goal of creating high-value food, feed, pharmaceutical, industrial or personal care products. Alternate feedstocks may be considered if the end product is a high-value ingredient for the food or feed industries.
By utilizing fermentation methods, companies across Canada can create new products for families faster—right here in Canada. It presents an opportunity to bring increased value to Canada’s abundant agriculture sector, while boosting our economy and strengthening our domestic supply chain.
