TechFest London a huge success

It was a celebration of what London’s digital creative sector has to offer and a toast to the city’s talented workforce. After hosting events in Toronto and Vancouver, Canadian tech gurus at Techvibes.com brought their TechFest model to London.
London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) and Techvibes hosted this unique opportunity for employers and job seekers in the tech field to come together under one roof on October 28 at London Music Hall.
At TechFest London, local talent connected face-to-face with the executive teams and hiring managers from eight presenting companies including Inner Geek, Big Viking Games, Goodlife Fitness, Arcane, ZTR, Startech.com, InfoTech Research Group and CarProof. Each company came armed with open positions and were actively screening applicants that night.  The tables were reversed for a short time as representatives of these firms presented a three minute “lightning pitch” potential employees to show exactly what sets their company apart. Presenters shared information on everything from perks offered including unlimited vacation, catered meals and regular teambuilding activities as well as their portfolio and achievements. Attendees were treated to complementary refreshments including ice cream.
“Workers in the tech sector don’t necessarily have to look towards centres like Toronto, Vancouver or Silicon Valley to work for some of the best technology companies. They can find comparable opportunities right here in London,” said Kapil Lakhotia, President and CEO, LEDC. “Our diverse digital creative technology cluster is made up of innovative, entrepreneurial ventures that are successful Canadian and global players.”
Designed for creative techies, who love fast-paced work environments and have a drive for excellence, the upbeat event was attended by more than 400 people. The engaging, informal, but highly energetic atmosphere of the event mimicked work environments at many of London’s digital creative firms.
The event was free to attend, but a $10 purchase of a VIP Talent ticket gave a select few exclusive access and time with hiring managers and team members before the doors opened for general admission.
