BDC Launches $1 Billion Loan Program

Canada has introduced major new tariff relief funding to support manufacturers affected by U.S. tariffs on steel, aluminum, and related sectors. The federal government launched a $1 billion loan program through the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and expanded the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI) by $500 million, while Ontario introduced its own $1 billion Protect Ontario Financing Program for steel, aluminum, and automotive businesses. Together, these programs aim to provide liquidity, stabilize operations, protect jobs, and strengthen supply chains as manufacturers face rising costs and market uncertainty caused by ongoing trade tensions.
