The Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Development Board (EMOWDB) is urging employers to participate as response rates sit at less than half of the target needed to reflect the region’s diverse economy.
Since 2012, the EmployerOne survey has played a central role in workforce planning across the London Economic Region. Originally launched to streamline data collection from local employers, the survey has helped inform community partners, shape regional workforce strategies, and inspire similar initiatives in other communities.
The EmployerOne survey is open to employers of all sizes and sectors across Elgin, Oxford and Middlesex counties, including the cities of London and St. Thomas. Input from a broad range of businesses is critical to building an accurate picture of workforce trends, challenges, and opportunities across goods-producing and service industries.
Survey questions focus on employers’ workforce experiences over the past twelve months, including hiring and recruitment, workforce skills, training provided, and employee retention. Employers are also asked about anticipated challenges and priorities for the year ahead. Participants can opt in to receive resources and supports after the survey closes. All responses are confidential and individual data is never identified.
“One of the simplest ways to improve workforce decision-making is better shared insight,” says Christine Wilton, director of workplace development at LEDC. “The EmployerOne Survey gives employers a direct line into how workforce challenges and opportunities are understood across the region. When this input is consistent and widely used, it helps reduce duplication, align planning and ground workforce decisions in real experience.”
The information collected helps the EMOWDB design targeted workforce programs that support both employers and employees, from training and apprenticeship initiatives to recruitment and retention strategies. These insights help ensure the region’s workforce remains competitive and prepared for future demands.
The survey is available online and remains open until Jan. 31, 2026. It takes between 15 and 40 minutes to complete, but every response plays a role in shaping workforce development across Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford.
